The NO2 data is a monthly average derived from chemical analysis of diffusion tubes by a specialist laboratory. This is then subject to an annual correction factor, so we use the previous year's correction factor to get more rapid but approximate results. The NO2 tables are shown in the annual data pages.
The Particulates data is downloaded from the monitors monthly as an Excel spreadsheet with readings every 15 minutes of PM1, PM2.5, PM10, total particulates, and wind direction and strength. In the data pages this is summarised as PM2.5 and PM10 in graphical form for ease of reading and understanding. Where there are occasional very high short peaks such as from bonfires, these peaks are removed so as not to compress the overall vertical scale.
